Message from Our Founders
What is our purpose in the universe? What is the purpose of life?
As millennials who grew up in developed cities, we enjoyed a tremendous amount of resources without us having to work hard to achieve them. We had access to clean and free public toilets. We were given a great education. Job opportunities were abundant when we first graduated.
Did we really ‘earn’ all of these privileges? No, we did not. We definitely worked hard to achieve academic excellence. We were able to build good careers with great prospects.
However, such privileges were only possible because we were riding on the shoulders of our forefathers. We did not build the roads. We did not invent the sanitation system. We did not found the schools, nor did we write the textbooks.
To whom much have been given, much is expected. While enjoying all these resources and opportunities, there was always this nagging feeling inside of us, a feeling that we were meant to take on bigger responsibilities.
Today, we are very fortunate to enjoy the fruits of labour by our forefathers, but what are we doing to plant the seeds for future generations? If we continue to consume without creating, will there be a better future?

As Robert Frost wrote in ‘The Road Not Taken’, “I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference”. This lingering thought throughout our childhood led us down this road. We have not turned back since. We started OpenBuzz for a better future, a future that the next generations can thrive in.
Our vision is a future with limitless creativity, a future where there is an abundance of choice, a future where our earth is still a beautiful place to live in. We want a future where our choice for consumption can be endless yet sustainable. A future where our consumption is not a trade-off with our precious planet.

To achieve this vision, we had to re-think everything from scratch, back to first principles. We threw away what we learnt in business school and production experience, and looked at everything with a different perspective.
This led to the creation of the Native Industry 4.0 Framework, a framework which enables infinite product choice for consumers, without the extra burden on or wastage of resources. The concept is really quite simple: the final product that the consumer buys is only produced after an order has been placed and payment made, and the consumer can expect to receive the order within the next few days.
However, the commercialisation and implementation of this concept is no easy feat. To do this, we have created a whole new highly-integrated back-end design, manufacturing, inventory and e-commerce system to enable the product to be designed, produced and sent out from our warehouse within 1 business day.

This framework is so revolutionary that it completely changes the metric of how a retailer is measured. The biggest clothing retailers in the world usually carry around 10,000+ Stock Keeping Units (SKUs), we started our business with 200,000 SKUs. Our product variation is so huge that the common e-commerce platforms could not handle, we had to setup our own e-commerce stores.
The fast-fashion industry runs 52 micro-seasons (a new launch every week), we can do 365 nano-seasons (a new launch everyday). Industry leading retailers have a speed-to-market of 3 weeks. Our speed-to-market is half a day. To handle 200,000 SKUs, leading platforms need at least a few hundred thousand square feet of space, coupled with hundreds of staffs. We can do it all in one thousand square feet of space, with just 10 staffs.

With this Native Industry 4.0 Framework as an underlying principle, we have created and commercialised many unique products that cannot be found elsewhere in the current market, with many more new products in the pipeline. The response from our customers has been immensely positive as our products can match almost 100% of consumer demand, anytime, any design. Our products are never ‘out-of-stock’ and there is no inventory obsolescence.
Our business is essentially the business of “choice”, as we are able to offer an almost infinite amount of choices without incurring huge costs or wastage of resources. We are natively Industry 4.0.
